AI can find a CV. Can it find the right person?

AI is everywhere at the moment – and recruitment is no different.

It can search thousands of CVs.

Write job adverts.

Match keywords.

Arrange interviews.

And save recruiters a LOT of time.

We're not against it. Far from it.

If technology helps us do our jobs better, we're using it.

But here's the bit we don't think AI can replace.

A candidate tells us they left their last job because they wanted a new challenge.

Their CV says one thing.

Then you actually speak to them.

Twenty minutes later, you understand what really happened, what they're looking for, what type of manager they'll work well with and what will actually make them stay in their next role.

That's recruitment.

The same applies to our clients.

A job description can tell us the experience you need.

It can't always tell us about the team, the personalities, the manager, the pace, the culture or the type of person who's going to walk in and just fit.

You learn that by knowing your clients.

AI can absolutely help us find people faster.

But finding people and understanding people are two very different things.

So yes, we'll embrace AI.

We'll use the technology.

We'll work smarter.

But we'll still pick up the phone.

Because sometimes the best match isn't the one a computer would make.
