Your hiring process might be costing you good people

You’ve found a great candidate.

They’ve got the experience. You liked them. They liked you.

Brilliant.

Then… nothing.

A few days waiting for feedback.

Another interview needs arranging.

Someone important is on annual leave.

The final sign-off needs to happen.

And by the time you're ready to make the offer?

They’ve accepted another job. 😬

We see it ALL the time.

Good candidates are rarely only speaking to one business. If they're actively looking, they're applying, interviewing and having conversations with other employers too.

That doesn't mean you should rush into hiring the wrong person.

But there’s a big difference between taking your time over an important decision and having a hiring process that takes far longer than it needs to.

Sometimes the simplest changes make the biggest difference.

Give feedback quickly. Keep candidates updated. Make sure everyone involved knows when interviews are happening. And if you've met someone brilliant, don't wait around just because you think you should see another five people first.

Recruitment is a two-way street.

While you're deciding whether you want the candidate, they're deciding whether they want you too.

The businesses that understand that are normally the ones securing the best people.

And if you find someone great?

Move. Before somebody else does.
