A Strong Recruitment Partner Relationship

A Strong Recruitment Partner Relationship

A solid recruitment partner relationship is so much more than pure service delivery.

Perhaps you have worked with a recruitment company in the past, or looking at working one in the future? Some of the TeamJobs recruitment team share what elevates a relationship from transactional to one where both employer and recruitment team have a strong relationship to build on and maintain.

1) Honesty.

Lucy Eaton, Senior Recruitment Consultant, highlights openness as a factor. Lucy says, “I recently received a request to source a porter in a matter of hours. It just couldn’t be done in such a short space of time. It’s the honest conversations that matter the most. As a recruiter, you can’t set up both sides to fail. Being truthful is worth its weight.”

2) Added Value.

When you operate within a competitive market (and recruitment certainly ticks that box), the value that is provided becomes a differentiator. Hannah Sills, Managing Director, explains. “By added value, I mean the ability to understand someone else’s business as though you are a part of the team. A recruitment company cannot treat businesses as just a customer base. You have to understand someone else’s pain, their aspirations, what has happened in the past and what are the intentions for the future. It pays to feel a part of what someone else is building.”

3) Consultative.

The days of filling jobs when requested are long gone if you are looking to develop something long-term. Rob Bruce, Senior Recruitment Consultant, understands how looking at the world differently has its advantages. “If a company is struggling to recruit for a specific job after a few months, just keeping on, can be a drain on time and resources. Perhaps it is time to look at things from a new perspective. Strong relationships, in my opinion, are built on insight. It could be recognising how to align talent with business goals and understanding market knowledge, not just within the overall recruitment space, but being industry-specific.”

4) Trustworthiness.

Every strong relationship has trust at its heart, according to Vicki Reeks, Industrial Manager. “You cannot force a business to trust a recruitment consultancy, it is something that is earned. For instance, we have had many clients who have had a tough time during the pandemic, it’s almost as if time stood still for some industries. Now they are having the opportunity to find momentum again. If a relationship is already in place and built on transparency and just understanding each other, I believe this is where a relationship can be elevated to a powerful place.”

A strong recruitment partner relationship takes time, but it is two-way. When there is an understanding of a business, the people within it and the values they have, that is how a conversation can build. It becomes more strategic than tactical and that is how partnerships develop.

Whether a short-term solution or a longer-term approach to accessing strong marketplace talent, every company has its reason for choosing a recruitment company. The partnerships that you can find and nurture can become the key to making an impact within your marketplace.
