Is The Recruitment Process Going To Be Changed Forever?
Whilst we are seeing a new way of behaviour, it is important to embrace the opportunities that have been provided.
Some changes are here for the long-term. For instance, the interview process making a comfortable shift online, embracing flexibility and remote working options, becoming comfortable with recruitment technology and a long-term emphasis on recruitment strategy.
Emma Porter, TeamJobs Account Manager says, “The shift has been something we have all had to adapt to, but now becomes part of how we work. For instance, candidate registration packs that were once printed out and I organised, are now available online and becomes a time saver. The interaction with clients and candidates online is well noted. This highlights huge changes, plus the introduction of new procedures in what has been a traditional industry.”
“Where there is chaos there is an opportunity.”
Vicki Reeks, TeamJobs Industrial Manager, highlights some of the factors that businesses currently miss as we all adapt to a new working environment. Vicki says, “Businesses have been built on the importance of interaction. That is how the whole recruitment industry thrives. Spontaneity is something we are all missing at the moment. For many people, their working day is consumed with calendar fixed video meetings. I know it will come back, but the impromptu meetings when we let a client know we are in the area and to pop in to see them is something my team and I miss.”
Emma recognises one thing that was important before the pandemic that won’t be affected by the new approaches and technology shifts, “The relationships and rapport you have with others is critical. In times like this, it becomes a necessity.”
“Whether a candidate or client, there will always be the immense value in how we communicate with each other, the trust built and rooting for each other's corners. As businesses find their flow again, when relationships are deep routed, everything else follows.
As companies spend the rest of the year finding stability, adapting to new ways and processes represents a shift in how industries behave.
In recruitment, the personal interactions formed and the openness with how we behave is how we all find our difference in the marketplace.
